Introduction

Daniel and Françoise Dossmann are French, originally from Paris. They met in Paris in a classical guitar class. Daniel was one of the teachers and Françoise was a student when she was 16 years old. They married five years later in 1968. Oliver, their only son, was born in 1970. Since they meet, Daniel and Françoise began to search for God, which led them into Eastern religions, the practice of yoga and a trip to India when Oliver was 2 years old. They became Christians at the end of 1973 entirely alone through the reading of the Bible and a personal encounter with Jesus-Christ. They were then convinced that He is the Savior and the Lord.

Music

Since the beginning of their Christian life, Daniel composed many Christian songs and instrumental music. He played classical guitar, Françoise played the recorder, and they sang together, often with Oliver. They recorded several cassette albums between 1976 and 1983:

1 - In the former recording studio of the French Christian Language School in Albertville in the Alps. Some of these cassettes were recorded with a group of friends, under the name of "Groupe Héman". Other cassettes were only instrumental.

2 - In Geneva, Switzerland with Samuel and Hélène Grandjean, who composed children's songs. Daniel made the arrangements of the songs, played the guitar, Françoise the recorder and Oliver sang with a group or in solo. These recordings of children's songs were published by the Maison de la Bible and are still available.

French Radio Ministry from Ecuador, Ivory Coast, France and the United States

In 1983, Daniel and Françoise became missionaries with Reach Beyond, formerly HCJB World Radio. They went to Quito, Ecuador and participated in the production of French radio programs, broadcasted through shortwave radio for the French-speaking world. They first spent a year at the Rio Grande Bible Institute language school in Edinburg, Texas to learn Spanish. Oliver went to an American school to learn English, as he was going to attend an American missionary school in Quito. Daniel and Françoise lived for 17 years in Quito, Ecuador and produced many diverse radio programs.

In 2001, they moved to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), to work with the Christian radio station “Fréquence Vie” (Frequency Life). They continued to produce radio programs and Daniel was also the radio station’s chaplain.

After having to leave Ivory Coast at the end of 2004 because of the beginning of a civil war, Daniel and Françoise settled in Normandy, France. In 2014, they moved to the United States, to be close to Oliver and his family.

Conclusion

Even though Daniel is no longer here physically, we know that his joy and confidence were to proclaim to a suffering world, the message of the Bible, the Word of God: Salvation and deliverance in Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah, the Savior of the world, the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3: 16-17.
